Premium light pink Awayuki strawberry - 270g

The Japanese awayuki strawberry is a rare strawberry. If you’ve never tried or even heard of a white strawberry, you’re not alone. White strawberries are strawberries with white flesh (hence the name), red seeds, and usually some pink patches. Even though the colour seems unripe and not so sweet, when you first bite it you will be surprised with the sweetness! That is why they also called it “Hatsukoi no Kaori (Scent of first love)”. The reason why Japanese people say it is the scent of first love is that, when people have a first love, the feeling and face turn into pink color like “Hatsukoi no Kaori” strawberry. The white color of the strawberry’s flesh is achieved by cutting down sunlight exposure, which in turn reduces anthocyanin levels. This naturally-occurring pigment is what gives fruits and vegetables their hue.
