Its size is similar to a small grapefruit, its skin is uneven and its color can be either yellow or green depending on the ripeness of the fruit.
The yuzu's flavour is tart, closely similar to grapefruit taste, with overtones of mandarin orange. It is rarely eaten as a fruit, its juice is commonly used as a seasoning, somewhat as lemon is used in other cuisines. However, in the Japanese cuisine, its aromatic skin is used to garnish some dishes.
