Carambar caramel was created in 1954 in Marcq-en-Barœul and was completely unintentionally. Legend says that in a factory, which manufactured chocolate at the time, there was a broken machine that mixed caramel and chocolate, the taste of this mixture was surprising because it was like no other caramel candy. This is how Fauchille’s family, began manufacturing Carambar caramel in the Chocolate Factory Delespaul Havez.
It was in 1973 that appeared three new flavors : Strawberry, orange and lemon; very classic tastes for the time, the cola taste made his entrance in 1984. Since then, the range of flavors has grown. Nowadays the most beloved of French caramel bar has even found its place in the kitchen, and there are many cookbooks that offer all sorts of recipes with Carambar. This little French caramel candy bar is still unique and enchants young and old.
Jokes from Carambar caramel are legendary. Before the jokes, inside Carambar there were points that could be exchanged against gifts. It was in 1969 that the points were replaced by jokes.
